Mammoth Creek Parcel
The "Mammoth Creek Parcel" is a swath of undeveloped land, owned by the Town of Mammoth Lakes, bordered by Sherwin Street to the West and Waterford Street to the East, Mammoth Creek to the South, and the multi-use pathway (MUP) to the North . The parcel is 28 acres and was recently thinned as part of the Eastern Sierra Climate and Communities Resilience Project, a forest health venture occurring in and around the Town of Mammoth Lakes. Prior to this work, the parcel was overgrown with brush & trees and did not lend itself to formal recreational opportunities. But, since the treatment work, the parcel is now much more of a reflection of what a healthy Sierra Nevada forest should look like, trees spaced appropriately, and dead trees removed. Not only was this beneficial for the forest itself, but the site now lends itself to recreational opportunities, due to the additional land available within the parcel that is no longer covered in trees or brush.
With this in mind, the Town is seeking feedback from the community regarding interest in recreational development within this parcel. What type of recreation opportunities would you like to see at the Mammoth Creek Parcel? Please let your voice be heard by completing the survey below. The Town’s Office of Outdoor Recreation appreciates your feedback!
