Applications and Forms

Job type and submittal requirements 
  (NOTE: other documents beyond what are listed below may be required)

  • New Construction, Additions, 
    • TOML forms: permit application, project information, special inspection and testing agreement (if necessary)
    • Full Plan set, including structural calculations, Title 24, soils report, etc.
  • Alterations, repairs, remodels
    • Many applications can be submitted with a detailed, written scope of work.
    • However, the complexity of the job may necessitate drawings or other supplemental documents.
    • TOML forms: permit application
  • Limited Scope
    • These permits consist of only one scope of work: windows, for example.
    • Many limited scope permits are issued without a need for review, and can often be issued within 24 hours.
    • If the job consists of only electrical work, only plumbing work, or only mechanical work, then it is considered limited scope.
    • TOML forms: permit application, various other documents may be required depending on the scope
  • Demolition
    • A separate demolition permit is not required if there is an existing permit for the rebuild, repair, or remodel portion of the job.
    • However, if the nature of the entire project requires a lengthy review process, a separate demolition permit can be issued so that work can begin to prepare for the larger scope.

  • Reroof and Siding
    • A reroof or siding permit is not required if the scope consists of less than 200 square feet of material being replaced.

  • Woodstove/Fireplace
    • TOML forms: permit application, flue certification
    • Manufacturer's minimum clearances to combustibles specifications (usually found in the appliance installation manual)
