AWOS Relocation and Upgrade
The Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) has relocated, with major improvements. The existing AWOS equipment was very outdated and needed to be upgraded. The equipment also needed to be relocated in preparation for another project that would be too close to the equipment and not provide sufficient clearances.

Reconstruct GA and Terminal Area Parking Lot
The Airport parking lot has greatly deteriorated over the years and is need of major improvements. With the help of FAA and Town of Mammoth funding construction for these parking improvements is set to begin on May 6th, 2025. With completion around early July. This project aims to enhance airport experience by expanding parking capacity, improve lighting, and upgrade accessibility. During construction, please be mindful of parking adjustments. The new lot will bring a much needed, more convenient and efficient parking experience for both visitors and locals flying in and out of the Eastern Sierra, just in time for summer 2025 travels.

Multipurpose Building with ARFF & SRE Components

Mammoth Yosemite Airport is expanding its facilities with a new multipurpose building. The design will improve operations & enhance the airport users experience. The new space will offer office space for airport staff, provide a more accessible & safer environment for expensive airport equipment, improve emergency response time, & mitigate aircraft vs vehicle movement conflicts. The building will also provide landside access for airport users, ADA (American Disability Act) movement improvements, & airfield visibility from the watch room.

The Town Council presentation for this project occurred on March 5th, 2025. With solicited bids for site work phase 1 occurring on March 7th, 2025.

Planning & economic development will occur in April. With hopes of construction beginning in 2026.

The new facility reflects the airports commitment to providing top-tier service & supporting the growing needs of the Eastern Sierra community.

Stay tuned for more updates as the project progresses.
