Adult Softball

Adult Softball is Back! 

Get your team together and join our Coed or Men's Slow Pitch Softball League this summer. All abilities welcome! League play begins June 13 at Shady Rest Park. Registered teams can schedule practice beginning in May. Please email or call the the Parks and Recreation Department at (760) 965-3690 for information or to register your team! 

Spring Bike Squad

Register for the NEW Spring Bike Squad!

Join us for 5 after school sessions of biking this spring! We’ll pick you up from school, take you biking around town (or down on the dirt roads out of the snow), and finish at Shady Rest Park. Students must be proficient on a bike. We will primarily ride pavement and dirt roads in the area. Bike Squad is offered for Grades 3-5 on Wednesday, beginning April 27 and concluding on June 1, 2022. Fee is only $40/child. Little Sluggers

Register for Little Sluggers! 

Registration is now OPEN for Little Sluggers - an instructional T-Ball program for children aged 2-5 yrs. Beginning April 27, this is a fun-filled introductory program where children will develop very basic skills during practice sessions and gameplay. Bring warm clothes and a glove if you have one. Parents are required to help during the practices and games. Snacks will be provided after each session along with a team T-shirt. Parents must stay during the duration of the program. Volunteer coaches needed! Program is held at Shady Rest Park every Wednesday from 5:15-6:00pm. Cost per child is $40. Register here!

More trails and parks and facilities are opening or planned to open in April. Please click here to view the status of our parks, facilities, MUP’s and sidewalks. Please respect our parks and facilities by taking care of your trash, pick-up after your pet and keep your dog on a leash. Thank you! 

Community Recreation Center

Community Recreation Center (CRC) Update

Hamel Contracting Inc. is preparing to resume work on the site to begin constructing the mobility hub and to prepare for the arrival of the Sprung structure on April 25. Look for the weekly #crcupdates to resume later this April! Temporary park closure: For the duration of construction for the new Community Recreation Center, the Mammoth Creek Park playground, restrooms and parking lot will be CLOSED to the public. The Town will maintain public restrooms on the eastside of Mammoth Creek Park accessible from the multi-use path.  We invite you to enjoy one of our many playgrounds at Trails End Park, Shady Rest Park and the Community Center. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work towards enhancing our community recreation amenities.

Mammoth Trails Meeting

Mammoth Trails Community Meeting

We hope you can join us for an upcoming Mammoth Trails meeting on Wednesday, April 27, at 5:30pm. This is our bi-annual Mammoth Trails Meeting to share the season of work and upcoming summer programs. We are excited to have speakers from the USFS, Mammoth Lakes Recreation, Mono County, and Mammoth Lakes Trail System teams. We will be meeting in person at the Beer Cellar of Mammoth Brewing Company & the EATery. Grab a pint, relax and come talk trails. MLTS prizes to be given out throughout the evening! Ormat Advisory Notice

Ormat Construction Underway Near Shady Rest Park

Mammoth Pacific Geothermal began construction of a pipeline facility near the town of Mammoth Lakes on Tuesday, March 15. Construction vehicles including excavators, water trucks, front end loaders, skid steers and other heavy equipment will be present and operating near Shady Rest Park and on a section of the “A Trail”. Please be aware of heavy equipment and remain outside of marked areas. There is a marked detour for trail users. Click here to view the construction and detour map.

Please Leash Your Dog!

Please Leash Your Dog! 

While enjoying beautiful Shady Rest Park or the sensational views at the Sherwins Trailhead, please leash your dog and leave no trace! Trash bins are provided, along with complimentary doggie bags so please keep your dog on a leash, pick up your dogs waste AND put it in the trash bin. It is unlawful for any dog owner to allow their dog to run at large within the Town of Mammoth Lakes Municipal Boundary. All dogs shall be kept securely fastened by a chain, rope, or leash unless securely confined within private property legally controlled by the owner of the dog. We encourage responsible dog ownership while visiting these high-use areas by adhering to the Town Municipal Code below. Elevate Mammoth

Elevate is Mammoth Hospital's community prevention, wellness, and performance institute focused on improving the health of our community through facilitating positive lifestyle choices and providing the necessary knowledge, resources, and skills. Elevate was launched in the Spring of 2021 by Mammoth Hospital. Join a variety of virtual and in-person wellness programs including Pilates, Tai Chi, and Mom Strong: Perinatal Core & Pelvic Health, support groups, prenatal classes, and education series on nutrition and mindfulness. Storytime and Reading Challenge

In addition to our weekly Facebook Live Storytimes on Wednesdays at 10:30am and in Spanish alternate Fridays at 10:30am on Mammoth Lakes Library's Facebook page.

 
Makerspace and MonoBookBox Program

The library continues to offer free all-ages seasonal Makerspace Kits and Activity Zines for pick up at the front desk, along with Storytime To Go bags for young families at Mammoth Lakes Library. School age kids can still sign up for a few remaining slots in our winter MonoBookBox Program and high school age teens can participate in our Evolution of Storytelling Project  which includes free journaling boxes and zine-making kits and this season adds in-house use of iPads for digital story creation and recording equipment for oral history/podcast style storytelling.  Adults can take advantage of our Drop-In Sewing Machine Time at the 2nd floor Makerspace every Wednesday from 2:30-4:30pm
