Summer Camps

Summer Camp PRE-Registration OPENS April 4!

Parks and Recreation is excited to offer 9 weeks of summer camp fun for ages 3-18 this year. We have a jam-packed schedule of awesomeness with something for everyone! 


Summer Camp Registration: 

April 4 - Summer Camp and Swim Lesson Pre-Registration is designed to be as fair and equitable as possible in the face of overwhelming demand. Each child is eligible to enroll in one camp/lesson prior to open registration. Pre-Registration will open at 8:00am PST on April 4, 2022 and will be available through 5:00pm, Friday, April 8. Registration will be available online or in person. No late registrations will be accepted. Please note: Waitlists will not be available for pre-registration, only for OPEN registration beginning April 11. 

April 11 - Unlimited summer registration for all camps, swim lessons and programs opens at 8:00am PST.

Little Sluggers

Register for Little Sluggers! 

Registration is now OPEN for Little Sluggers - an instructional T-Ball program for children aged 2-5 yrs. Beginning April 27, this is a fun-filled introductory program where children will develop very basic skills during practice sessions and gameplay. Bring warm clothes and a glove if you have one. Parents are required to help during the practices and games. Snacks will be provided after each session along with a team T-shirt. Parents must stay during the duration of the program. Volunteer coaches needed! Program is held at Shady Rest Park every Wednesday from 5:15-6:00pm. Cost per child is $40. Register here!

Where can I walk and play outside? Please click here to view the status of our parks, facilities, MUP’s and sidewalks. Please respect our parks and facilities by taking care of your trash, pick-up after your pet and keep your dog on a leash. Thank you! 

Community Recreation Center

Community Recreation Center (CRC) Update

Hamel Contracting Inc. is preparing to resume work on the site to begin constructing the mobility hub and to prepare for the arrival of the Sprung structure on April 25. Look for the weekly #crcupdates to resume in April! Temporary park closure: For the duration of construction for the new Community Recreation Center, the Mammoth Creek Park playground, restrooms and parking lot will be CLOSED to the public. The Town will maintain public restrooms on the eastside of Mammoth Creek Park accessible from the multi-use path.  We invite you to enjoy one of our many playgrounds at Trails End Park, Shady Rest Park and the Community Center. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work towards enhancing our community recreation amenities.

Ormat Advisory Notice

Ormat Construction Underway Near Shady Rest Park

Mammoth Pacific Geothermal began construction of a pipeline facility near the town of Mammoth Lakes on Tuesday, March 15. Construction vehicles including excavators, water trucks, front end loaders, skid steers and other heavy equipment will be present and operating near Shady Rest Park and on a section of the “A Trail”. Please be aware of heavy equipment and remain outside of marked areas. There is a marked detour for trail users. Click here to view the construction and detour map.

Community First Grants

Funding Available for Local Arts

The National Endowment for the Arts recently announced $20,200,000 in grant funding from the American Rescue Plan. We are thrilled to share that Mammoth Lakes Recreation was awarded $150,000 for subgranting to help our local arts and cultural community recover from the pandemic. These funds will support job creation, facilities management, health and safety supplies and promotion of events. Learn more about and apply online. 

Leave No Trace!

Leave No Trace!

While enjoying beautiful Shady Rest Park, the groomed Nordic trails, or the sensational views at the Sherwins Trailhead, please park in designated areas and leave no trace! Trash bins are provided, along with complimentary doggie bags so please keep your dog on a leash, pick up your dogs waste AND put it in the trash bin. We encourage responsible dog ownership while visiting these high-use areas by adhering to the Town Municipal Code below.   • Ongoing - closed on school and government holidays.
  • Tuesday and Friday from 3:30-5:00pm
  • Free afterschool program for middle and high school students. Snacks, activities and help with homework provided. 

Free Yoga and Guided Meditation

  • Ongoing, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 1:30-2:45pm
  • Bring a towel or yoga mat and relax your mind and body. 

Senior Breakfast Club

  • Ongoing, Sunday from 8:00-9:00am
  • Various Locations Join us for coffee, a light breakfast, community, and conversation

Game Nights 

  • Ongoing, every Sunday and Wednesday
  • Sundays from 5:00-7:00pm & Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00pm
  • Join us for game night at the Sierra Wellness Center. A variety of board games are available. All ages and abilities are welcome. 

CSA#1 - FREE Community Spring Classes!

Elevate Mammoth

Elevate is Mammoth Hospital's community prevention, wellness, and performance institute focused on improving the health of our community through facilitating positive lifestyle choices and providing the necessary knowledge, resources, and skills. Elevate was launched in the Spring of 2021 by Mammoth Hospital. Join a variety of virtual and in-person wellness programs including Pilates, Tai Chi, and Mom Strong: Perinatal Core & Pelvic Health, support groups, prenatal classes, and education series on nutrition and mindfulness. Art + Wine

Join us at the Community Arts Center to learn how to paint, draw, print, mosaic, etc... all while in the real or 'virtual' company of friends. Taught by local and visiting artists, you'll come away with a masterpiece. It's okay if you don't consider yourself an artist - let us show you how to unleash your creative spirit! Storytime and Reading Challenge

In addition to our weekly Facebook Live Storytimes on Wednesdays at 10:30am and in Spanish alternate Fridays at 10:30am on Mammoth Lakes Library's Facebook page, Mono County Library's winter reading challenge is back with #WinterReads2022.  Click through the link to find out more and sign up.

 
Makerspace and MonoBookBox Program

The library continues to offer free all-ages seasonal Makerspace Kits and Activity Zines for pick up at the front desk, along with Storytime To Go bags for young families at Mammoth Lakes Library. School age kids can still sign up for a few remaining slots in our winter MonoBookBox Program and high school age teens can participate in our Evolution of Storytelling Project  which includes free journaling boxes and zine-making kits and this season adds in-house use of iPads for digital story creation and recording equipment for oral history/podcast style storytelling.  Adults can take advantage of our Drop-In Sewing Machine Time at the 2nd floor Makerspace every Wednesday from 2:30-4:30pm
