Mammoth Ice Rink

Mammoth Ice Rink OPENS November 26! 

Get your skate on Mammoth Lakes! Weather permitting, the Mammoth Ice Rink will open on Friday, November 26. Celebrate the opening of the rink with FREE skating and rentals (subject to availability) from 7:00 - 10:00pm, immediately following the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in The Village. Plan your winter of skating by visiting our website. 

Parent Focus Groups

We Want To Hear From You!

One of our goals at Parks and Rec is to offer quality and accessible programing that you and your children want to experience. To ensure our camps and programs meet the expectations of our community, we are hosting a Parent Focus Group on Thursday, November 18 from 3:00 – 4:30pm in Suite Z. If you would like to participate, please click here to register. All panelists will be sent a list of questions to be discussed prior to the meeting. As a thank you, all panelists will receive complimentary Mammoth Ice Rink passes and be entered into a drawing for a free summer camp. 

Skating Class

Winter Skating Lessons 

Our Ice Skating Lesson programs are now OPEN for registration. Join our US Figure Skating certified instructors to learn the fundamentals or improve your skills! Open to all ages - Grades Transitional- Kindergarten to Adult! For more information, or to register, please click here.

Parks and Facilities Update

Town parks and facilities have been winterized and are subject to seasonal hours of operation. The Trails End Park restroom remains open, with porta potties provided for users at the Whitmore Recreation Area. Learn more about the status of our parks, trails and facilities here.

Community Recreation Center (CRC) Update

This week, crews continue to prepare for the placement of concrete to complete the floor slab planned for mid-November. Temporary park closure: For the duration of construction for the new Community Recreation Center, the Mammoth Creek Park playground, restrooms and parking lot will be CLOSED to the public. The Town will maintain public restrooms on the eastside of Mammoth Creek Park accessible from the multi-use path.  We invite you to enjoy one of our many playgrounds at Trails End Park, Shady Rest Park and the Community Center. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work towards enhancing our community recreation amenities. Shady Rest Inyo Craters

Shady Rest Inyo Craters Trails Planning Meeting

Join Mammoth Trails for a meeting focused on the Shady Rest Inyo Craters Trails Planning Project on Thursday, November 18, from 5:00pm. Presentations and discussions with Trails Manager Joel Rathje and Eastern Sierra Sustainable Recreation Coordinator Matt Paruolo. Discussion items include:

  • Project Overview
  • Public Outreach Efforts
  • Public Survey Results
  • Concept Development and Planning Considerations
  • Project Timeline and Next Steps

State of the Inyo: Mammoth Ranger District 

 Roads open: Mammoth Scenic Loop.
Roads closed: Hwy. 203 (continuing to the Reds Meadow Rd.) at Mammoth Mountain Inn, Old Mammoth Rd. to Lake Basin Rd., Lakes Basin Rd.
Campgrounds open: Mammoth Mtn. RV Park.
Campgrounds closed: Crowley (BLM), Old Shady, New Shady Rest, Sherwin Creek, Pine Glen, Twin Lakes, Pine City, Lake Mary, Lake George, Coldwater, Reds Meadow, Agnew Meadows Family, Agnew Meadows Horse, Agnew Meadows Group Pumice Flat, Pumice Flat Group, Minaret Falls and Upper Soda.
Devils Postpile Ranger Station: CLOSED 
Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center:
Open to virtual services seven days a week, 8:30am-4:30pm. ESIA is operating the bookstore Thursday-Sunday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Elevate Mammoth

Elevate is Mammoth Hospital's community prevention, wellness, and performance institute focused on improving the health of our community through facilitating positive lifestyle choices and providing the necessary knowledge, resources, and skills. Elevate was launched in the Spring of 2021 by Mammoth Hospital. Join a variety of virtual and in-person wellness programs including yoga, support groups, prenatal classes, and education series on nutrition and mindfulness.  Check out all of their classes and schedule here.

Art + Wine
Join us at the Community Arts Center to learn how to paint, draw, print, mosaic, etc... all while in the real or 'virtual' company of friends. Mammoth Lakes Library Story Hour

Join Mammoth Lakes library for a virtual story every Wednesday at 10:30am in English and in Spanish on the first and third Fridays of the month via the Mammoth Lakes Library Facebook Page. Mammoth Library also has a resource page to keep school aged children busy while learning from home.
