Spring Window Decorating Contest

Spring Window Decorating Contest

To celebrate the start of Spring we are holding a Spring window decorating contest. Get those creative juices flowing and decorate a window in your home with spring decor. It can be as simple as a spring drawing displayed for all to see to a full window painting. Submit your window creations by Sunday, April 4 to parksandrec@townofmammothlakes.ca.gov or to our Facebook Event Page here. Vote for your favorite window between Monday, April 5 and Wednesday, April 7. Winners will be announced Thursday, April 8. Ring in Spring with us! 

Tony Colasardo Scholarship Applications Open

The Tony Colasardo Scholarship Fund provides full or partial scholarships for the many popular camps and recreation programs offered by the Parks and Recreation Department. These camps include the Mammoth Sampler Camp, Explorers Mini Camp, Aquatics Camp, Wave Rave Camp, Youtheatre, Climbing Camp, Mountain Bike Camp, Swim Lessons and Fly Fishing Camp. Applications for summer scholarships opened today, April 1, 2021 and will close on April 30, 2021. You will be notified of your applications success prior to the Youth Summer Pre-Registration on Monday, May 17. Click here to apply.

  • Youth Summer Pre-Registration will open on May 17, 2021 at 8:00 am PST and will be limited to one summer product per child.
  • Summer Registration will open May 24 at 8:00 am PST with our remaining youth products and adult programming.
  • Be sure to submit a 2021 waiver prior to registering. Waivers can be found here.


Mammoth Lakes Winter Fitness Challenge


The 50+ Mile Winter Fitness Challenge has come to an end. In total there were 82 active participants logging more than 12,500 miles between January 7, 2021 and March 31, 2021 between the ages of 3 to 64, truly a multigenerational community program. Below are the final miles, please let me know if you see any errors in your own miles as soon as possible. Awards will be announced next week!

Mammoth Lakes Library: Storytime ToGo

Reserve your Storytime ToGo kit from Mammoth Lakes Library by calling 760-934-4777. Each kit contains 1-2 books, craft supplies and some educational learning activities. Reserve yours today! 

MAC After School Programs

The After-School Art Clubs are available for students in the Mammoth Unified & Eastern Sierra school districts.  The After-School Art Club is a weekly club with a rotation of learning in visual art, media arts, theatre, and dance. The program is open to children ages 5 – 17 and will provide students the opportunity to express themselves artistically in a safe and nurturing environment. Through our After-School Art Clubs, students in Mono County are exposed to art they may not receive in school. As often as possible, the arts and craft projects will include cultural components. Mono County Virtual Peapod

Socialize with other families in Mono County online in English each Monday and Friday at 10:00 am with Mono Kids Virtual Peapods click here for the Zoom links and on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm on Facebook Live. Spanish Peapod meets virtually on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 1:30. More information is available here.

Mammoth Lakes Library Story Hour 

Join Mammoth Lakes library for a virtual story hour Wednesdays at 10:30 am in English and in Spanish on the first and third Fridays of the month via the Mammoth Lakes Library Facebook Page. Mammoth Library also has a resource page to keep school aged children busy while learning from home.

Check out Community Service Solutions Quarantine Kitchen Live on Facebook every Friday for some yummy and healthy recipe ideas. Fun for the whole family to follow along plus great ideas for staying healthy on a tight budget. More information is available here. 

Fitness Fridays

Kids can join fitness Fridays for a free virtual fitness class. K-2 is held from 12:15-12:45pm and grades 3-5 is held from 1:00-1:30. Email Jenna (jmccarthycss@gmail.com) to register and get the zoom link. 

Elevate Mammoth

Mammoth Hospital is offering a variety of virtual wellness programs including yoga beginning April 1, sports nutrition on March 31, and trail running bootcamp (6-weeks beginning April 7). Check out all of their classes and schedule here. 

Parks and Facilities Update

Our Parks crew is out blowing sidewalks for safe pedestrian travel but please be aware of white out conditions and icy conditions. Little League Early Registration

Mono County Little League is taking registrations for the upcoming spring season! More information on registering your child is available here. Currently, Little League anticipates running practices in April with the possibility of games in May. Register your child today! 

ESAC's Virtual Backcountry Travel & Avalanche Education Series

Join ESAC for some free avalanche education on Wednesday, April 7 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm via Zoom. Previous education series have been recorded and are available to view here. 


MAC Art & Wine: Knitting Basics

Join Jess Francois as she teaches you the basics of knitting while you make a 100% cotton dishcloths on Thursday, April 8 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Yarn, knitting needles, wine, beer, la croix and tea available, masks required. Learn more and register here. 

MAC Art & Wine: Planter Marbling  

Learn to marbled Terra Cotta planters with this fun in-studio art and wine session with MAC director Dani. Celebrate spring and learn planter marbling with nail polish on April 22 from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. Learn more and register here. 


Town Host Program Seeking Applicants

MLTPA and MLTS have created a Community Host program to ensure our visitors have a positive experience here in Mammoth Lakes and the Eastern Sierra. Hosts are tasked with providing standardized, accurate and current information, sharing their knowledge of the local geography, reporting maintenance issues to managers, and offering basic first aid supplies. A Host is expected to work primarily during times of peak visitation, typically on holidays and weekends. Both paid and volunteer opportunities available. Reach out to gretchenhaselbauer@mltpa.org to apply and join the growing team.
