We hope this message finds you and your family safe and well. The impact to the health and well-being of our community is our top priority as we continue to monitor the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and respond accordingly.

Following guidance from the CDC and recommendations from local and state health authorities, the Town of Mammoth Lakes Parks and Recreation Department has made the following adjustments to its programming, parks and facilities schedules, effective as of Thursday, March 19, 2020.

FACILITIES AND PARKS:

The Community Center is currently closed and is operating as the Unified Command Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during this emergency period. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience.

Other facilities, including the Mammoth RecZone, Community Tennis Courts and Whitmore Pool, are currently closed for the season. As the scheduled opening dates for these facilities approach, we will continue to provide updated information. Any new reservations at all facilities are also temporarily suspended.

Shady Rest Park, Trails End Park and Volcom Brothers Skate Park, and Mammoth Creek Park are currently closed for the season. Outdoor accessible restrooms/porta-potties at these locations remain open to the public. As the scheduled opening dates for these parks approach, we will continue to provide updated information. Any new reservations at all park locations are also temporarily suspended.

Playground structures at Shady Rest Park, Trails End Park, Mammoth Creek Park and the Community Center Tennis Courts are currently closed.

Whitmore Recreation area, including Ball Fields 1 & 2 and the Synthetic Turf and Track, will remain open as an outdoor-only, open-space facility for self-directed use. Visitors are reminded to follow CDC recommendations to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, including maintaining social distancing of 6 feet or more. Porta-potties are also currently available at this location.

The situation is constantly evolving, and we are operating in uncharted territory. We are working closely with the Mono County Department of Public Health to ensure our Parks and Recreation community receives credible information and advice during this challenging time. We will continue to respond to federal, state and local guidelines as they are implemented and will keep you up to date with any changes.
