Saturday, August 31

SEMBA Mammoth Point to Point 50K MTB

About: Join SEMBA for their free 50K event to kick off bike month in Mammoth Lakes! Open to first 75 people to register. This is a great way to see a ton of the incredible trails that Mammoth Lakes offers. Post ride awards in The Village at Mammoth on the stage at 3:30pm.

Sunday, September 1

11,053’ Summer Ezakimak 5k 

About: This unique uphill 5K race at sunset takes participants from the base of Mammoth Mountain to the 11,053' summit on e-bike, mountain bike or by foot. The race course follows the legendary Kamikaze bike trail weaving up Mammoth's back side. With $3K in prize money on the line, the stakes for the summer challenge are high. Friends and family can greet racers at the finish line with an evening gondola ride to the top, including a spectacular Sierra sunset and join in all the fun at the Summit Sunset Party.

Mammoth Gran Fondo Pre Ride # 1

Time: 11am

Meeting Location: Footloose Sports

About: Join Eastside Velo for a warm up ride for the 2019 Mammoth Gran Fondo! This ride is approximately 40 miles and will head south on 395 to Crowley Lake and return. All Mammoth Gran Fondo pre rides are designed to be fun group rides and will include multiple “re groups”. Feel free to make the ride shorter or longer depending on how you want to prepare for Saturday’s ride. Please come prepared with hydration/nutrition for the ride.

Mammoth Gran Fondo Pre Ride # 2

Time: 11am

Meeting Location: Footloose Sports

About: Join Eastside Velo for a warm up ride for the 2019 Mammoth Gran Fondo! This ride will be approximately 35 miles and the route is from Mammoth Lakes to the June Lake Junction and back. Mammoth Gran Fondo Pre Ride # 3

Meeting Location: Footloose Sports

About: Join Eastside Velo for a warm up ride for the 2019 Mammoth Gran Fondo! This ride will be approximately 15 miles and the route features an “in town” cruise up to the Mammoth Lakes Basin and back! This will be a great way to see some beautiful scenery and lakes within our area! All Mammoth Gran Fondo pre rides are designed to be fun group rides and will include multiple “re groups”. The Mammoth Gran Fondo

Time: 7am (102 Miles) & 8:30am (70 &42 Miles)

About: The Mammoth Gran Fondo was chosen as a "top-ten century" bike ride by Bicycling Magazine for its "jaw-dropping vistas". Situated to the east and south of Yosemite National Park the Mammoth Gran Fondo takes riders along the east side of the High Sierra with views of the Sierra Nevada Range, Mono Lake and the White Mountains. 75% of the Gran Fondo route closed to through traffic! Other highlights include: all three distances timed, Signature Event Socks, 6 Feed Zones with Full SAG/Tech Support, Free Downloadable Photos, After-Party with Food/Beer/Live Music in the Village at Mammoth!


Sunday, September 8

Mammoth Gran Fondo Recovery Ride SHORT 1-1.5hrs

Time: 9:00am (8:30am gathering for coffee & pastries by Footloose Sports)

Meeting Location: Footloose Sports

About: Join Big Wheel Coaching and your many of your fellow MGF cohorts for a post ride easy spin through the Mammoth Scenic Loop for one more does of Eastern Sierra scenery! The pace will be very casual, an easy pace to "spin out" our legs after 102-miles of fun on Saturday.

Mammoth Gran Fondo "Recovery Ride" LONG 3.5hrs

Time: 9:00AM

Meeting Location: Footloose Sports

About: Join Big Wheel Coaching for a steady-paced ride around June Lake, one of the most beautiful rides anywhere! This ride is nearly 60-miles and will not be ridden at a stiff pace, which means it may take longer than anticipated. With that said, this is not a "casual" ride, instead it should be thought of as a "light" endurance ride, not easy, but not hard either. There will be regrouping points along the route as needed.

MegaKami Downhill MTB Race

Location: Main Lodge, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area

Time: 3:30pm Registration & 5pm Race

About: Grab your chance to race the infamous Kamikaze Downhill at Mammoth Mountain with the MegaKami spin! Free event and open to the first 50 people! The MegaKami is a “Le Mans/Mass” style race on the original Kamikaze Downhill course. Fastest one to the bottom wins. A Le Mans start is defined in car racing as “When the start flag dropped, drivers had to run across the track to their cars which were parked on the other side, climb in, start the car, and drive away to begin the race.” It’s going to be a hoot, be sure to try this race out!

About: It’s cyclocross season and time to come try your hand at this free and fun event in The Village at Mammoth! This event includes Advanced, Amateur, Women, and Juniors categories. Bring your cyclocross bike or a mountain bike! Plan to be riding/racing for about an hour and stick around after for the fun after party!

Movie Night: Dirt Magic

Location: Minaret Cinemas

About: Join Mammoth Lakes Recreation for a showing of Dirt Magic! Patagonia MTB presents Dirt Magic, a film documenting Downieville, CA’s journey from dying mining town to mountain-biking mecca. Inspired by a desire to save their home trails, shaped by a grassroots-organization’s unintentional stewardship and fueled by the sport’s rowdiest festival, Downieville’s newest dirt miners are using their reputation to create a model community for struggling mountain towns across the globe—and it all started with a van, a chainsaw and a few maxed-out credit cards. All proceeds benefit Mammoth Lakes Recreation and their efforts in building trails.

eBike Weekend: Tour de Mammoth Lakes 

Location: Footloose Sports

Time: 10:30am-12:30pm

About: Have you ever explored the Mammoth Lakes Town Loop or cruised to the secret hidden gems of Mammoth Lakes? This is your chance! Join Footloose Sports for this ride on ebike. Ride is $10 and includes an ebike rental and post ride refreshments. Suggested 12 and up ages.

SEMBA Social Ride

Location: Uptown Trailhead in The Village at Mammoth

Time: 10 am

About: Join SEMBA for a fun social mountain bike ride. Options for all abilities and ride leaders for each group! Meet at the Uptown Trailhead In The Village at Mammoth at 10am. Must have a valid Mammoth Mountain Bike Park Pedal or Bike Pass to participate.

eBike Weekend: Electric Bike Sunset Cruise

Location: Wave Rave

Time: 5pm

About: Join the ebike revolution and join in on the ultimate party on wheels – the Wave Rave Sunset Cruise. Free ebikes for the first 50 people and event t-shirts! Also, complimentary post ride ice cream from the Mammoth Fun Shop! If under 18, must bring a parent to sign a waiver.

Kids' Bike Rodeo and Gear Swap

Location: Mammoth RecZone (behind the Mammoth Lakes Library)

Time: 4-6pm

About: Join the California Highway Patrol and Mono County Sheriff team for this fun and FREE event. Children will learn and develop bike safety skills, helping them become better bicyclists! Please bring a strider bike or regular bike. 

A BIKE GEAR SWAP will also be held during this event. Please bring your gently used bike gear (all ages) to sell or trade. Tables are FREE, however advance reservations are required. To register, or for more information, please email Kat Kelly at kkelly@townofammothlakes.com

Movie Night: Pedal Driven

Location: Footloose Sports

Time: 7:00 pm; panel discussion immediately following film

About: Join Mammoth Lakes Recreation outside, under the stars, for a FREE showing of Pedal Driven – a “bikeumentary" that explores the framework and ideology needed to get sustainable trails on the ground! Following the film, engage with local stakeholders to discuss the current opportunities and obstacles for area trail building.

United under cause to promote and protect our public lands; IMBA, Shimano, and Specialized have joined forces with the U.S. Forest Service and Northwest Emmy Nominated, Documentary filmmakers to provide a powerful advocacy resource not only for the mountain bike community, but local leaders, land managers, and policy makers that direct the future of our public lands. For 18 months, Howell at the Moon Productions traveled across the States and Canada, capturing the passion and experience of countless individuals and communities in an effort to introduce the Mountain Bike Movement to the world.

Mountain Biking is not a crime. Illegal trail building is not the solution. When education, cooperation and collaboration unite, the world will be Pedal-Driven!

NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) Weekend: GRIT RIDE

Location: Chair 2 Parking Lot/The Mill at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area Bike Park

Time: 2pm

About: Join the NICA GRiT (Girls Riding Together) ride! This is a FUN ride celebrating young women in cycling and a great opportunity for all women to come together to ride and celebrate females on bikes. The ride will include one lap of Sunday’s NICA course and will be approximately a one hour ride.
