Community Center, Park and Tennis Courts

The entire Community Center Park incorporates 5.18 acres and includes a pocket-park with a new playground, six tennis courts, play and picnic areas, a pay phone and an inside meeting room, including kitchen, tables, chairs and restrooms. The 2,550-s.f. Community Center is located at 1000 Forest Trail (Corner of Forest Trail and Minaret Road). The Town performs annual crack and patch sealing usually conducted in May for a cost of about $5,000. One outdoor horseshoe pit is also available, and the park includes a trial garden maintained by the Knolls Homeowner Association. Onsite parking includes 25 parking spaces for the Community Center and about 15 spaces for the tennis courts.

The Community Center is used frequently for recreation programmed classes (gymnastics, drama, Zumba, etc.), meetings, and select private gatherings (limited food and beverage). The tennis courts are well-used from May through September; the most difficult times to access a court are during tournaments or other special events such as free social doubles. Staff estimate that the courts are used to about 60% of capacity during the tennis season.

The Parks and Recreation Master Plan recommends the following facility improvements:

  • ADA upgrades
  • Conduct needed repairs and maintenance of Community Center building (new roof, flooring, paint, etc.)
  • Resurface tennis courts
  • Install picnic shelter and/or additional picnic tables
  • Trail surfacing
  • Irrigation system
  • New sign
